After the number talk, how about playing a game of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN ADD. It’s a wonderful fast paced game that really helps children with fluency. Better yet, you have everything you need if you already have SUM OF WHICH. Ask them to try to use all the tiles to make a cross number configuration where the sums are all ten. See how fast they are able to do it. Then have students compare how they made their sums.
